| What is the meaning of Invisible Sun? |
|
It really doesn't mean anything, we just thought it was a catchy domain name that would be easy to remember and spell. (we never considered the people who might try to spell it Invisible Son for whatever reason, we were thinking about "sun" at the time... D'oh!) It was taken from the title of a song on the album "Ghost In the Machine" released in 1981. Possibly the best of the original Police albums, it is still a favorite of mine. The songs lyrics are dark, but the song is essentially one of hope. |
| Here's what Sting had to say about it. Really... I asked him myself! (okay, I got it from his website) |

This was a song about the Troubles in Ireland. Long before the Police took off, I knew a girl from Andersontown in Belfast. I used to go and see her there. I had very short hair at the time, and I wasn't allowed to talk in Andersontown because people would think I was a squaddy. I wrote the song at the time of the hunger strikes. I wanted to write a hopeful song, - that's the image of the invisible sun that is shining any way, no matter how dark it seems. If you didn't know it was about the Troubles, there are very few specific clues: the mention of the Armalite is the actual reference. |
| And here are the song's lyrics: |
